Overview

How to synchronize your webcams with us via XML:

  1. Publish an XML file. See the XML specification below
    E.g. http://export.example.com/webcams-for-lookr.xml
  2. Create an update automatism for your XML file to update daily. More info
  3. Send us the URL to the XML file once to this email address:
    JavaScript needed for email address
  4. From now on, we will import your webcams from this URL daily.

XML specification

The XML file should advantageously be updated daily, and must contain the following information about each webcam (example):

Explanation of the XML structure:

Element Attributes Description
<webcams> The root element. It contains several "webcam" elements
<webcam> The element to describe a webcam
id A unique ID for this webcam on your site and it must not change over time
lastmodified
optional
The date of the latest change of the "webcam" element or its parts. The representation of the date is allowed to be in any commonly used format.
<title> Webcam title
<page> URL of the page containing the webcam
<image> URL of the image
view steady or shifting

Describes whether the provided webcam image shows always the same view or not (applies only to non-fix webcams)
direction optional north, north-east, east, south-east, south, south-west, west, north-west
<latitude> <longitude> Webcam position coordinates
<city> Webcam location name (city or village)
<player> optional URL of an embeddable player for the live stream
<mount> stationary or moving

Describes whether the webcam is mounted stationary or on moving grounds (e.g. on a ship)
orientation fix, rotating or ptz (pan/tilt/zoom)

Note: Preferably you store the webcam data in any kind of database such that you can automatically gerenrate the XML out of this database. Any changes of the webcam data in the database will then result in an up-to-date XML. More info

  1. Create a list with all your webcams as described below.
    Please use this Excel template
  2. Send this list to:
    [JavaScript needed for email address]
  3. If your webcam inventory changes, you need to redo this procedure.
    Avoid this maintenance work by using an automated XML

The list should advantageously be either an EXCEL or CSV file, which must contain the following information about each webcam:
